$ Finances $

 Over the past four years I have become some what dependant on computers for financial reasons. As I left home for college my father and I opened up a joint debt card account. The card was opened through a local credit union, not a commercial bank. This made it a little more difficult at school to check the transactions and balance on my account regularly. Luckily, my bank has a website with a password protected feature allowing me to see my up to date bank statements anytime I want to. I have grown dependant on this completely. With my debit card I also received a USAIR dividend miles card, allowing me to access the USAIR website to see promotions, specials and even have the opportunity to receive free miles with my debit card. I have used this card and the website to make flight reservations many times, the site and pass has helped with getting accurate and quick quotes. The USAIR card even works for an automated check-in at the airport. USAIR has put computer kiosks at their check-in points and with my card I can print out my plane ticket and baggage tag with out any wait!

Another great technological advancement I currently participate with is the New York Sate Thruway's Ezpass system. These handy little devices stuck on the windshield of many cars lets holders zoom through toll booths without stopping and tossing money into the booths. When making up for lost time, or avoiding a late arrival, these are lifesavers.

Other financial events I have participated in on the internet are purchasing things including software, text books and clothing. I annually update my Norton Antivirus software online. These are some what risky endeavors to make over the internet due to theft and fraud. I had to give not only personal information regarding myself, but credit card information as well. Although these features are somewhat dangerous the sheer convenience of them prevails. This is one feature of the internet I can see myself using for as long as possible. I find myself almost daily "window shopping" on the internet, and sometimes even purchasing. The easy accessibility to shopping on the internet is every girl's dream. I bought dorm furniture, earrings, clothes and bathroom accessories from Target, and there's a Target less than ten minutes from my apartment! Shopping online is more convenient with websites such as EBay, on which I now have an account. There is a convenient website for "shopping" online, which is ticketmaster.com. I have gotten concert and sports tickets off this website, and even been able to pick them up right at the venue’s box office. These new features eliminate the hassle of even receiving tickets in the mail. Amazon is a great resource I got to know very well over the duration of my time at Niagara University. Who wouldn't want to spend a few minutes searching for a required book online and then paying far less than the fools going to the campus bookstore! These are just a few of the simple and convenient websites of the hundreds I use all the time to either shop or just view.
