Home Computers Cell Phones Other

Even though my mom was one of the first people i knew with a cell phone (which she lived on for years) i was one of the last. I did not receive my first cell phone until i was sixteen and driving. A rule my parents made and i HATED! all of my friends had cell phones when they were younger, not to mention my younger brother who is only twelve already has a cell phone. I started out on a pre-paid account with Verizon and it was terrible. After being tortured with that for a year we made a short lived switch to sprint. Although i loved my sprint phone the service in my area was terrible. My family cancelled out plan with them and made the switch back to Verizon, but this time we were all on a family share plan, no more pre paid crap for me!

It is amazing how much technology they are putting into cell phones now. The phone i have, pictured farthest right, has an optional mini sd card slot which you can put songs and pictures or videos on to use as a background. I can access my phone with my computer and send an IM to a friend since it has instant messenger on it. About five years ago i saw George Carlin live (he is a comedian for those of you who don't know) and the guy who opened for him made a joke about how much cell phone technology is changing. He said that he was amazed that you could have up to five ring tones built in to your phone at the time and in a joking manner said i bet soon enough you will be able to have a song as your ring tone. Then he joked that he thought one day people would be able to record their voice and have that play as their ring tone. He followed this with a joke about how one day you are going to be sitting in church or at a funeral and someone's ringer will go off and sound a little something like this "Pick up your mother f***ing phone". At the time, it seemed like something way far fetched, but now, i know people that have similar ringers.
