hypertext evaluation
due dates
-> hyper-evals due on the class forum by tuesday morning (2/4) - post text
or link
-> before class (2/5), you must comment on 2 hypertext evaluation posts
-> evaluations are due in class on 2/5 (see v below)
i) poke through a couple of these hypertext scholarly journals.
-> a- kairos
-> b- post-modern
culture
-> c- culture
machine
-> d- currents
-> e- consecol
-> f- nmediac
-> g- dialogues@ru
ii) pick one to work with, and pick 1-2 articles that sound vaguely interesting.
iii) skim through the article(s) - read it(them) closely if you want to do so.
iv) we're looking for some evaluation of the article(s) as "hypertext."
-> what is the title of the article? cite the article using your 201/301
style (APA/MLA).
-> what is it about (give a basic summary)?
-> is the layout/design/presentation "suitable" for the web? why/why
not? how/how not?
-> what would you like to see, but don't?
-> what is novel, intriguing, surprising, or even disturbing about the article
as a hypertext?
-> make at least three concrete suggestions for design revision to address
hypertext suitability.
-> i recommend you work through Barclay
Barrios' piece on design vocabulary (sotd for ii/v).
v) you can hand this in as a "print text" of 1.5 double-spaced pages,
or as a hypertext.
-> i suggest the latter so you practice web-building (no "extra-credit"
for doing so).
-> if you choose the hypertext format, insert a link from your index.html
page to your eval.
-> drop cripps
an email with a link to the index.html page so he can check out your eval.
