National Survey

Thirty-six online writing instructors responded to the national survey.

When conducting the national survey, the author sought responses from online writing instructors across the country and succeeded in obtaining data from a diverse range of institutions. Although the national surveys were designed to be completely anonymous, some respondents chose to identify their institutions and/or locations. The locations marked by yellow checks on the map below (Figure 1) were reported by respondents:

Local Survey

Five out of the nine faculty actively teaching online in the author's home department responded to the single-site survey.
