In the beginning of the course, I defined writing as the opportunity to communicate/exchange ideas and other forms of creativity to others. I listed the three essential characteristics that fit my defintion of writing were creativity, passion, and persuasion.
Our class's collective definition of writing is that in order to be considered as such, the work in question must implement a form of media, be a process that employ symbols, respond to a situation, and be observed and interpreted. The essential characteristics of writing are a medium, use of a set of symbols, and interpretation.
Our modified definition of writing is now as follows:
The only thing that differs between the previous definition and this modified versions is that writing does not necessarily have to respond to a situation.
