Argument

The collected poses three questions:

  1. What ethical and political theories are important for our field to explore in relation to critical making?
  2. What additional intersections between critical making scholarship and digital rhetoric and writing studies can help to extend both the multimodal scholarship and material rhetoric scholarship that our field already explores?
  3. What does our field offer critical making scholarship that it does not necessary attend to as strongly or as explicitly?

Through these questions, this text argues that in most instances rhetoric and theory must exist both as critical thinking and critical making. It isn’t enough for rhetoricians to think critically, as there must also be an established hands-on approach to implementing theory into physical works, whether they be print or digital.
