Presented in sections which are broken up into shorter chapters, this text presents critical making in five ways: Framing Critical Making, Text Mining as Critical Making, Eversion and Critical Making, Critical Play as Critical Making, and Critical Making as Instructional Design.
Because each section is a compilation of works by different authors, voice, style, and topic changes from chapter to chapter. However, I found that the chapters are accurately placed within the limited sections.
I found the sections Framing Critical Making and Critical Making as Instructional Design to be the most relevant to my career and studies.
Framing Critical Making introduces the ways in which critical making can be present in rhetoric and composition. This section essentially gives examples of how critical making “fits into” rhetoric and composition.
Critical Making as Instructional Design focuses more heavily on pedagogy and the multiples ways in which critical making can be implemented into composition. This final section touches on print and digital projects and the hands-on approach associated with critical making in composition. This section focuses heavily on the development of courses to teach critical making, as well as specific projects that can be included in course content.
