Conclusions
16% of respondents are uncomfortable assigning multimodal projects specifically because of assessment concerns. Although we did not specifically ask respondents to follow up on what area(s) of assessing multimodal assignments concerns them the most, we can comfortably surmise that adequate training on this topic is likely not occurring in all writing programs, especially in those programs who do not require their instructors to incorporate a multimodal projects into their assignment sequences. However, even in writing programs, such as ours, where a multimodal assignment is required within the curriculum, many instructors continue to struggle with how to adapt their current assessment practices to the multimodal genre.
